No definite figures can be given for the natives fully maintained by the Mission for the
reason that the population is a moving one. All natives on the Mission can be regarded
as visiting as they seldom remain more than a few weeks at a time. As the demand for employment
by visiting natives is considerably greater than the work which can be made available, no native
is employed for more than a short period. At the time of inspection the following numbers were
present on the Mission -
Adult males 31
Adult females 9
Male children 5
Female children 4
Half-castes 2 adults
In addition one Fijian with his wife and child live permanently on the Mission.
