         John Briggs (born 1825/6 Tasmania, died 1877/8 Victoria) married
         Louisa Strugnell (born 14/11/1836 Tasmania, died 6/ 9/1925 N.S.W.)

         Available information from family recollections and official
         records suggests that the birth order of the nine children was 
         as follows :

         1. John Jr. ('Jack') Born 1853/4 Mt. Cole, Victoria. 
            Died 1925+ N.S.W.
     
            1. Married 1876, Coranderrk to Lydia 'Liddy' Edmunds 
               (Wavoroo of Wangaratta / Wodonga, 'half caste'), 
               widow of William Edmunds, had 5 surviving children, 
               born 1851/4, died 25/ 7/1885 Maloga
               children : 6

            2. Married 29/ 5/1888, Echuca to Minnie 'May' Flick (Queensland
               half caste), born c. 1869, died 1893+
               children : 2


         2. Henry ('Harry') Born 1855/6. Died 23/ 6/1874 Coranderrk, 
            drowned at 18 or 19.


         3. Sarah Born 1856/7. Died 1892+

            1. Married c. 1880, Wimmera to Allan Barklay (Baraparapa of 
               Swan Hill / East Charlton, 'half caste'), born c. 1848, 
               died 1892+ 
               child : name and sex not recorded, born 1882 Melbourne, 
               died 1883 Tatura


         4. Eliza ('Lizzie') Born 1857/8. Died 21/ 5/1936 Cumeroogunga

            1. Married 29/ 1/1875 Coranderrk to John Charles (Wathaurung of
               Bacchus Marsh, 'half caste'), born 1849/52, died 5/10/1884
               Melbourne

            2. Married 27/ 2/1887 Coranderrk to Alick Campbell (Baraparapa of
               Ganawarra / Kerang, 'half caste'), widower of Emma Jackson 
               Paterson, had 2 step children and 2 children surviving,
               born 1851/3, died 1932 Melbourne

         5. William ('Willy', 'Bill') Born 1861/2. Died 13/ 7/1945 Swan Hill

            1. Married n.d. to Margaret Taylor (Wemba Wemba of Moulamein,
               N.S.W., 'half caste'), born ?, died 1937 Moulamein

         6. Margaret ('Maggie') Born 1863. Died before 1925

            1. Married 1883, Healesville? to Leonard Kerr (Baraparapa of
               Mount Hope / Kerang, 'half caste'), widower of Isabella Hallam
               of Lake Condah, with one surviving child, born c. 1857, 
               died 1915+

         7. Mary ('Polly') Born 1866. Died 19/ 8/1939 Cumeroogunga
