East Arm Leprosarium, Darwin 1937 - 1964
2. 7.1937 Form - Pensioner in Charitable Institution
Peter Prunty of Pine Creek was admitted to the Leper Hospital,
Channel Island, Darwin on 12. 6.1937.
14. 7.1937 Regarding Peter Prunty it is most unlikely that he will ever
leave the Institution. Most of the inmates are Aboriginals,
but an arrangement exists with the Western Australian
Government for all lepers from that state to be cared for in
the Leper Hospital at Channel Island, a charge being made
against the Western Australian Government. There are three or
four local aged white men under treatment, but as it is
understood they are in advanced stages of the disease it is
not likely that a permanent cure will be effected.
