The following was extracted from the AIATSIS Catalogue (Mura?) back in 2002 by myself.
I am not sure how I did this but I dont think there was anything special in the process.
Looking at my original file I appear to have searched the catalogue for the words "Our Aim".
I have stripped out any references that were not to the Our Aim Magazine. References
to Our Aim which also mention other publications remain. However I cant guarantee this is
a complete list.
The initial format of each entry was as follows -

and disorderly in 1895, 1901 and 1909. Later he came under the influence
of the Aborigines' Inland Mission and went to live at St Clair. In 1909 he
married Janie Phillips. In 1914 he led a working- bee to get the St Clair
mission station ready for the arrival of a new missionary. In 1915 the
police at Singleton asked him to swim Glennies Creek to search for the
body of a lost child. After the missionaries left Singleton, he lost his
religious ideals. Most of his children were taken from him and his wife by

.520. | The son of Harry and Sarah Waters, he was born at Singleton in
1881. Between 1898 and 1906 he made seven court appearances on various
charges, usually drunk and disorderly behaviour or indecent language. In
about 1907 he came under the influence of the missionaries in Singleton
and was converted to Christianity. He liked to preach, and between 1908
and 1919 gave several talks of his conversion. He and his wife Minnie,
whom he married in about 1901, held Bible classes and prayer meetings in
their home and offered themselves as native helpers to the Aborigines
Inland Mission in 1910. Following the closure of the mission at St Clair,
Herbie reverted to his former ways. In 1920 he was expelled from the
government reserve at Mount Olive. In 1921 he was charged with being drunk
and disorderly at Singleton and in 1923 he was charged with supplying wine
to another Koori. He spent much of the remainder of his life around Kurri
Kurri but visited his sister at Singleton regularly in later years. He
died around 1960. See Singleton Argus, 13 Jan 1898, 24 Oct 1899, 12 Jan

to the church on the St Clair mission and in 1916 she wrote a letter to
the Aborigines' Inland Mission magazine, Our Aim, thanking God for her
recovery from a serious illness. In 1919 she and Herbie were farewelled

.520. | She was the great-great-grandmother of the author. Sarah Madoo
was born in about 1847, a member of the Gringai clan of the Wonnarua
people. She was born at Eccleston on the Allyn River, nth of Paterson. In
1869 she married Harry Waters at Eccleston and soon after left the Allyn
River area. Her first child, Harry, was born in Singleton in 1870. Her
other nine children were Ada, Arthur, Caroline, Clarrie, Daisy, Edward,
Ellen, Harriet and Herbie. In 1889 she was widowed when her husband
drowned in the Hunter River. Rev. James S. White took up her cause with
the Aborigines' Protection Board in 1890 and as a result she had a portion
of land reserved for her on the Singleton common and a hut erected. She
entertained the local municipal councillors from Singleton at her home on
the common in 1891. There were several attempts by local officials to have
her removed from this land over the years because she allowed other Kooris
to visit her and camp from time to time near her hut. These attempts at
eviction were resisted, and when Sarah did leave the Singleton common in
1910 to take up residence on the St Clair mission station, she did so
voluntarily. She was still living at St Clair in 1914. In the latter years
of her life she went to live with her daughter Daisy in Redfern, Sydney.
She died at a house in Lawson St, Redfern, in March 1941 at the age of 94.
Her death certificate, however, said she was 106. See James S. White
diaries, 29 April 1890; also Aborigines Protection Board minutes, 23 Dec
